WebAllen, Kansas, located in northcentral Lyon County, was founded in 1854. The first settler in the area and the county was Charles H. Withington, who located along the old Santa Fe Trail at 142 Mile Creek. Withington was also one of the State’s earliest settlers, coming to Kansas in 1846 and working as a gunsmith to the Sac and Fox Indians.
