So you need to backup in NBD mode or use special HotAdd mode with Reg Key to avoid VM stuns at disk unmount (general NFS + hotadd problem). In general a lot of customers use Veeam to backup Simplivity. If you like doing stuff by yourself and are well versed with VMware products, then try VMware vSAN with vSAN ready nodes and you will be amazed.
